Aprašymas

The concept and the description of switch rods was first introduced in 2008 when I designed and developed the first switch rod ever. The purpose and the idea of a switch rods was clear… to design and develop a rod that could be used both as a single hand rod and as a double hand rod when needed – and a rod you can switch to either hand, depending on which side of the river you are on. Why I decided back then to name this rod/concept “A true switch rod” was because you could use this rod, not only as a single hand rod or double hand rod, but you could also easily “switch” the rod over to the left hand (if you were right-handed) and thereby have the line/loop traveling on the opposite side. In this way, it did not matter if you were on the right bank or the left bank, or if the wind was on your casting arm.

Therefore, I can proudly state that I invented the original switch rod and the switch rod concept, despite what others in the business may claim. Since 2008, I have continued to improve on this concept, and it has been a great success for salmologic.

The Reborn 11’0” 18 grams/278 grains rod is yet another great switch rod from us. For the last 3 years, we have worked intensively to improve what was possible, yet keep the original switch rod concept intact. By using our 2024 graphene+ adaptation, we have created a new switch rod with a very deep action and a stronger top that will stay up when all the energy is being unloaded. With this upgrade, loading the rod and directing the cast has never been easier.

If you are considering a light rod for salmon- and sea run brown trout fishing, and want a real switch rod, you need look no further.

Specifikacija

Designed and built under the same concept as Reborn 13’3” 28 grams/432 grains. It has the same distinctive built-in catapult effect that will surprise even a very experienced fly fisher. The main difference between these two rods is that Reborn 13’9” 33 grams/509 grains is able to present bigger salmon- and steelhead flies under higher water with ease when required.

This rod is a well balanced “canon” and it is the prefect choice for fishing large rivers, and rivers where you have to cover a lot of water – OR when looking for the fish entering the river, especially in early season. Even if this rod uses a relatively high line weight, you will be able to cast it all day long without getting tired whatsoever. A truly balanced setup does increase your chances, as it adds the necessary focus on your “fishing”, which is needed to be successful and not just lucky.

The line weight, 33 grams, is made for casting fly sizes 1-inch brass, 1¼-inch alu and 1½-inch plastic tubes. And it does this job perfectly! It therefore makes perfect sense that this 13’9” rod casts with only 33 grams/509 grains – no need for using heavier lines when the rivers are high, and the bigger fish are entering the river.

This rod is also a 6-piece version and therefore easy for traveling, despite that not being what the designer had in mind when creating this perfect fly fishing rod. I’m very confident that this rod will be a classic as well.
